Courses, sports schools, after-school care and holiday programmes for children in Istanbul
The catalogue covers Istanbul on both shores, from Beylikdüzü, Bakırköy, Şişli and Beşiktaş on the European side to Üsküdar, Kadıköy, Ataşehir and Pendik on the Asian side. Its most common activities are music, volleyball and ballet, and the areas with the most providers are Ataşehir, Bakırköy and Halkalı (Küçükçekmece). A full school day at an Istanbul primary school ends in mid-afternoon, and schools that still teach in two shifts send one group home at midday. After lessons a child can join a weekly course or the training of a sports school or club at a set hour, or stay with staff at an after-school club that takes children from any school. In the mid-year break, the short breaks in November and April and the long summer holiday, municipalities, clubs and course centres run summer schools, sports schools and day camps.
